Makita HM1810X3 70lb. Breaker Hammer ( 5 Star Rating

This Makita breaker hammer is the all around work horse that will not leave you disappointed. This baby packs a huge punch being over 70lbs. and includes all of the right accessories that make this a complete ready to work unit right out of the box. We were impressed with the dolly that was included with the unit and moving it around was a breeze. This unit hits REALLY HARD! We loved how much power it had. We were very impressed with this unit overall and have to say…Full Review»

Dewalt D25899K 21lb Max Demo hammer ( 4.5 star Rating

This Dewalt handheld unit was the “ninja” out of the bunch that we test because it to our surprise it hit really hard! This unit it perfect for small jobs that require precise demolition and that jobs that are in small awkward to work in areas. This unit was awesome to work with and is small enough that you can use it for something as simple as chiseling away the dirt around a sprinkler to do a repair with out feeling like you’re going overkill on your tools. We love that we can carry this thing around without breaking our back or needing a dolly to move it around… Full Review»

Dewalt D25980KB Pavement Breaker/Breaker Hammer ( Screen shot 2013-12-21 at 10.34.19 PM

Where do we start with the Dewalt D25980KB? ITS AN ABSOLUTE BEAST! We gave this hammer our best performance award because of how powerful it hit while we used it. We didn’t award this unit the number 1 position on our list because its price is slightly higher than the Makita. However, if price was not an issue we would choose this unit over the number 1 pick because overall it’s a more powerful unit. The build quality is amazingly rugged and there is no doubt that this thing will last a life time… Full Review»

Makita HM1307CB 35-Pound Demolition Hammer ( Stars

We couldn’t help but put the Makita HM1307CB in our top 5 because of how well it performed for its size. This unit offers 35 ft lbs. of force per hit and is not a back breaker when it comes to using it. The fact that it is a standalone unit means that you can really put a lot of your own body weight into it and get some amazing results. This is a middle of the road unit in terms of weight so it allows you to cover both the small jobs and the big jobs with just one machine. We really liked the carrying case and overall build quality was excellent. Dewalt D25960K 40lb Breaker Hammer ( Stars

This Dewalt breaker hammer hold a special place in my heart (just being cheesy) because I have personally owned this unit for many years and can vouch for its longevity and build quality. I have put this unit through hell and it’s still working like it just came out of the box. To give you an idea I have worn out 2 whole metal bits with this machine from pounding concrete and asphalt all day and it still work like new. If that doesn’t scream longevity I don’t know what does! I really trust Dewalt and Makita as great brands and this hammer is no exception. While owning a unit with a little more than 40 ft lbs. of force would make a my jobs go by a little bit faster I am still extremely satisfied with my purchase of this breaker hammer…Full Review»

Things to Consider When Purchasing A Demolition Hammer

When purchasing a breaker hammer there are a few aspects that you must pay attention to in order to insure you’re getting the best back for your buck.

  1. You need to buy the appropriate size: Bigger is not always better when it come to demolition. If you plan on user the hammer often you will find that having a small hammer can really make you job easier when it come to wear and tear on your joints and back. If it’s possible to use a smaller unit for the job save yourself the energy and use a smaller tool.
  2. The breaker hammer has to be name brand: Don’t settle for anything that isn’t a name brand. I can’t tell you how many piece of junk hammers that i’ve used that literally fall apart on the job. Invest your money wisely!
  3. It has to be easy to transport: Getting a breaker hammer that has a carrying case or a dolly is ideal. It makes it easy to move and keep all of your bits together for easy storage.

If you find a hammer that satisfies all three of these points above you are sure to have a good experience. Breaker hammers are a fantastic tool to have and can be used on all sort of jobs. The old days of breaking concrete in your backyard with a sledge hammer are over! Be sure to do your research and find one that really suits you!
